COUNSELLING WINCHESTER, EASTLEIGH, AND SURROUNDING AREAS

WHAT IS COUNSELLING?

Counselling can help with sudden changes in our lives such as bereavement or divorce. Counselling can help in exploring and coming to terms with difficult situations.

There maybe times when we feel that the same kind of crises seems to reoccur in our lives. For example we may repeatedly end up in destructive relationships. Counselling can help in the long term explore the root of the repeated patterns and then explore change. Change may seem unsettling, but with the support of counselling may feel less threatening.

RELATIONSHIP COUNSELLING
I listen to what each partner brings to the relationship exploring the difficulties that each is experiencing. This level of intimacy with a stranger can feel difficult and unnatural at first for a couple, and because of this I believe that I provide a safe non-judgemental environment bringing positive change and development to what ever issue the couple brings to counselling.

MY APPROACH

I work as an integrative counsellor which means that I incorporate many philosophies and theoretical models into my work including Gestalt, Psychodynamic and Existentialism. I have undergone many years of training in these theoretical areas, and I integrate all the above theories.

I see my role as working alongside you, offering a safe and non-judgemental environment to explore whatever is giving you difficulty. Counselling is not about giving you advice. Counselling gently begins to look at a particular issue, and see if there are any patterns to these issues that may be beneficial to explore.

Some of my clients come to see me because they can see a specific problem that is causing them to be unhappy. Other clients come because they don't know why they feel sad, or cannot see anything in their life that brings them a sense of joy. Whatever the issue is I work flexibly to your needs. I offer both long and short term counselling. I have also undergone training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Solution Focused Therapy.
